Our designer lamps are a modest pursuit of timelessness.

The obviousness of round shapes gives a sense of calm, therefore the circular base of the Otur lamps was a given. Designer David Raes was inspired by basic forms used in buildings such as water towers, as extensively documented in the ‘Grundformen’ by Bernd & Hilla Becher.

Using only the best materials such as Sipo wood and flax linen, Otur wants to be a modest pursuit of timelessness, standing among objects you love. A network of local craftsmen makes each lamp a unique masterpiece, eagerly waiting to enlighten your living space for decades.

'Just like many others, I like to be surrounded by timeless objects.' Being a brand designer, David is often confronted with the shelf life of his work. To compensate this volatility, he started searching for timelessness in form and materials.

Inspired by artists like Bernd & Hilla Becher, who documented a large amount of archetypical forms of industrial buildings in their ‘Grundformen’, he began his quest for objects that last.

Our lamps are entirely handmade in Belgium by our local network of craftsmen, resulting in stunning details and finishing.

Wood and handicraft

Belgian family business Nys has been around for years in woodturning. Our carefully selected woods are oven dried and then meticulously assembled and glued to make a solid column. These bases are then turned by the best craftsmen in the Nys workshops. Beautifully veined wood and handicraft make each lamp a unique piece.

Flax linnen shades

Flanders has a rich history in the creation of flax, a fantastic flowering plant whose fibres are made to weave a linen yarn. For over 60 years, our partner Verilin has been manufacturing luxury home linen and highly durable luxury linen for the hospitality sector all over the world. Together, we created our shades, who stand out by magically revealing the natural fibres of this material.

All lamps are assembled and finished by hand at the workshops of Labeeuw, a family business of lamp producers. Repetitive quality checks during our production process make sure we deliver masterpieces that are worthy of lingering by your side for a very long time.
